Hereβs to #RyneSandberg. My first real hero and I did my damndest to play like him. Sadly, my bat was more like #DougDancenzo. He may have been the last true #ChicagoCub. Like #ErnieBanks & #RonSanto, he never left #Chicago to chase a championship. It makes me miss when players made the team their identity. Miss you #Ryno.

Ryne Sandberg was my childhood hero. I had a bedroom wall dedicated to his posters, baseball cards, and other items. It is hard to see heroes suffer. My dad was my other hero and I had to watch him suffer, too.
The stories I've heard about Ryne were inspiring. I've read his autobiography. An amazing person and the best second baseman I've ever seen play. I hope for a speedy recovery and rest and hope for his family.
