Good piece from #RupertRead here on #climate adaptation - we need to accept 1.5/2° of warming so it's important to make changes to fit around this. Which will also hopefully drive home to people how essential it is to prevent going beyond that.

Nice new (prep) talk by #RupertRead https://youtube.com/watch?v=kL8W7_A6V1E
It sort of pertains to your question and my reply, why your "life should be impacted in any way by the political whims of people outside of my specific watershed, let alone bioregion".
He ends his talk about how bad its going to get with the sole prescription: "economic activity" like trade or transport is going to become de-globalised and survivors of civilisation crash will have to make do with what their small region can offer.
I agree.
And then, your life is no longer impacted by the political whims of a far-away region, outside your local watershed. Provided you personally survive the crash and the culling in the aftermath.
Knowledge of then-relevant stuff will be key to your survival. Not the bunker with shelves of food in Queenstown, New Zealand.
How can you help to make your neighbourhood's, your community's survival crash-proof today? Do it. 🙂
Universities' failure to recognise an ecological truth
'Humanism ... privileged ‘us’ over the non-human / the more-than-human. ... This privileging has now come home to roost: ... we have been sawing off the ecological branch on which we live.'

John Foster reviews Rupert Read's 2022 book, written for all who find themselves confronted, in the stark glare of climate truth, by Lenin’s famous question: what is to be done?

"Longtermism is by contrast the hubris of a species in more trouble than it is willing to admit."
"facing up to climate reality is not merely an emergency; it’s a complete challenge to our civilisational model. The last thing we need is to lose a laser-like focus on the truth about our desperate predicament." Dr Rupert Read

That #ExtinctionRebellion spokesperson #RupertRead is still repeating his racist bullshit.
A kind of new article written by Rupert in defense against Marianne Brooker, who has called him out on contribiting to racism. In his defense to it Rupert brings up the following arguments:
- mass-migration and the calls for more open borders made them loose the referendum (brexit)
- I'm not a racist, but will use racism as a tool to gain political power
- re-explains the importance of being a malthusianer, with the note that "rich countries" have a larger negative impact. He makes no differentiation between rich and poor people, argues that in general we need to have less human
- argues he wants closed borders, so that they can take more climate refugees while not mentioning people fleeing as a consequence of Colonization, in which the UK has a rich history of contributing to it
- explains how migration tends to reduce social cohesion, and why for that reason less people should be taken
- I'm not scapegoating when claiming that immigration is an issue for our public service, it's an obvious fact
