I had many years of great communication on a collaborative bulletin board. Really great professional and family #reseachers... now gone.

#Ancestry has put the data from #RootsWeb Family Trees into an index collection, that's searchable for free (registration required). It contains no family connection, no sources and only years, which seems pretty useless. #GEDBAS from @CompGen is a lot more helpful, doesn't collect your personal data and sometimes even contains sources.

@peterrelph #WorldConnect is fairly ancient; it was part of #RootsWeb before Ancestry bought them. I trust that you take advantage of the occasional free periods offered by #Findmypast.

A couple of messages have appeared on #Rootsweb website, 1. The Rootsweb Mailing Lists will be shut down on April 6, 2023. 2. WorldConnect family trees will be removed from RootsWeb on April 15, 2023 and will be migrated to Ancestry later in 2023. Are #Ancestry looking to end their involvement after all its not a money earner for them. #Genealogy #geneadons #familyhistory
