Siamo quasi a fine legislatura e il bilancio del governo Meloni, cifre alla mano, mi pare disastroso.

Gentile lettore, la narrativa del “che bravi, siamo la locomotiva d’Europa” non fa più ridere, fa mestizia: è una bandiera lacera sul campo di battaglia d’una disfatta. Il Paese è massacrato: prezzi alle stelle (l’energia da noi è la più cara d’Europa), la crescita del Pil è la più bassa d’Europa, record mondiale nel calo del potere d’acquisto. Meloni ha firmato senza esitare il Patto di stabilità, la nostra condanna: con deficit superiore al 3% c’è procedura d’infrazione e zero sforamenti al bilancio. Il nostro 3,1% ci inchioda. Sarebbe bastato evitare alcune costose scempiaggini fortissimamente volute da lei, tipo il centro profughi in Albania e il Liceo del Made in Italy (la scuola meno frequentata del mondo: 4 iscritti per liceo), o porre la tassa sugli extraprofitti delle banche. Avremmo evitato la schiavitù dello 0,1%. Non basta. Meloni ha firmato a cuor leggero anche il diktat trumpiano di dedicare alla difesa la stellare cifra del 5% del Pil (gli stessi Usa non superano il 4,3%). Anche questo si ritorce contro di noi: siamo costretti a tagliare risorse al welfare e alla sanità e in più ad attivare il Safe, il prestito europeo per le armi (sì, Meloni ha firmato anche quello), ri-indebitandoci e pagando gli interessi. Insomma, dopo quattro anni di governo il bilancio è una disfatta. È qui che si vede la differenza tra uno capace e una modesta politica della Garbatella che si piega a 90 gradi e firma qualunque cosa benefici gli altri. Ci servirebbe uno statista, ahimè. Ad averne.

Dear reader, the narrative of “how good we are, we’re Europe’s locomotive” doesn’t make anyone laugh anymore, it makes one mourn: it’s a tattered flag on the battlefield of a defeat. The country is decimated: prices at the stars (our energy is the most expensive in Europe), the GDP growth is the lowest in Europe, a world record in the decline of purchasing power. Meloni signed the Stability Pact without hesitation, our condemnation: with deficits exceeding 3%, there is infringement procedure and zero overspending in the budget. Our 3.1% has nailed us. It would have been enough to avoid some costly excesses strongly desired by you, such as the refugee center in Albania and the Made in Italy High School (the least attended school in the world: 4 students per high school), or to impose a tax on the extra profits of banks. We would have avoided slavery by the 0.1%. It’s not enough. Meloni also signed lightly the Trumpian diktat of dedicating a stellar 5% of GDP to defense (the same US don’t exceed 4.3%). This too turns against us: we are forced to cut resources from welfare and healthcare and, in addition, to activate the Safe, the European loan for weapons (yes, Meloni signed that too), re-indebting us and paying interest. In short, after four years of government, the budget is a disaster. It’s here that you see the difference between someone capable and a modest politician from the Garbatella who bends 90 degrees and signs whatever benefits others. We need a statesman, alas, and heaven help us, we need one.
