🔹 #ChemicalWeaponsConvention continues to enjoy broad support around the globe, guided by impartiality

The 5th Review Conference of the #ChemicalWeaponsConvention has concluded. A final outcome document was not agreed upon by States Parties. #OPCW DG Arias expressed appreciation to the #RevCon5 chairperson and delegations who worked tirelessly to find common ground, and highlighted the collective view that the CWC remains essential for #disarmament, peace, and international security.

As advocates for the #ChemicalWeaponsConvention, the voices of #NGOs help to raise awareness of #ChemicalWeapons issues.

#SouthSudan, one of the four States not party to the CWC, participated in #RevCon5 and delivered a statement during the plenary.

Uniting science and diplomacy is key to advancing the #ChemicalWeaponsConvention 🫱🏽‍🫲🏿👩🏿‍🔬

At #RevCon5, #OPCW & IUPAC hosted ‘Science for Diplomats’, a knowledge-sharing initiative where experts engage diplomats on science and technology relevant to the CWC. Focus areas included artificial intelligence, drones, and additive manufacturing.

🌍 #CHEMEXafrica is a #chemical emergency response training for #FirstResponders from #Africa. At #RevCon5 🇩🇿 hosted a side event to promote the training, which takes place in September in Algeria.
