Quase cinco meses depois de um golpe de Estado ter interrompido o processo eleitoral na Guiné-Bissau, a violência política e a repressão contra civis e contra os meios de comunicação social têm contribuído para uma transição política sem fim corroendo as perspetivas democráticas. Numa dinâmica conversacional, reunimos as nossas perspetivas enquanto investigadora em paz e conflitos, jornalista e professor, e investigadora em estudos dos media. Considerando a recente morte de um ativista político e as ameaças dirigidas a órgãos de comunicação social como um retrato do momento atual, refletimos sobre um padrão regional mais amplo no qual governos de transição prolongam a sua permanência no poder através do uso estratégico da violência política e da incerteza.

However, the problem of the new Polish territories and the people living there quickly arose. The southeastern Polish lands — now western Ukraine — were subjected to a policy of forced assimilation. Any political activity based on the idea of Ukrainian identity, and even more so on the pursuit of autonomy, was prohibited.
