In news I was not expecting, Nahvalur is jumping into the retractable game with the Eclipse! Instead of using a knock or a twist mechanism, it's engaged by pushing the 2 halves of the body together. Kinda reminds me of a fancy Curidas, but without the 3-foot long knock.

More experimenting with a Lanxivi X1 Retractable Fountain Pen. So far the only niggle I've had is comfort holding it, but that was resolved by using black masking tape to fatten up the barrel grip area.
I tend to have a heavy hand when drawing which can spread nibs. The Lanxivi X1 nib feels very solid and it's the flow has been smooth and steady since the get go. When capped it's pretty short, about 4-1/3 inches, so it's compact for travel. With the cap screwed on the back and the nib extended it's about 5-1/2 inches.

@nitin Just the humble Majohn/MoonMan A1 and A2 pens. A1 (metal) is better if you want the typical heft of a fountain pen. A2 (plastic) is as light as a gel pen.
My fountain pens remain at home, I never carry them on my person. No leaks in such usage (of any of the many fountain pens I have for that matter).
Trying a retractable fountain pen was one of the best decisions ever. âïž
Since I mostly use pens to jot short notes or annotate, uncapping and capping a regular fountain pen is just too much effort. Clicking on a retractable is so low effort that I transitioned over almost completely from gel pens at home.
