Being ex-Microsoft, it’s still a shock to see that Windows & Devices isn’t even one of Microsoft’s top three businesses anymore.

At $17.3B in revenue it’s smaller than LinkedIn ($17.8B) and Gaming ($23.5). Let alone the real moneymakers like Azure ($98B) and Microsoft 365 ($88B).

How Microsoft is betting on AI agents in Windows, dusting off a winning playbook from the past

Microsoft is pushing AI agents deep into Windows, reviving a platform strategy that once made the PC operating system dominant. The question is whether that approach can still work in a world defined by phones, browsers, and the cloud.

Stack Overflow’s monthly question volume peaked during the height of the COVID pandemic and has been in decline ever since. The steepest decline happening after ChatGPT launched in late 2022.

This was once a key part of every developer’s toolbox and the site is now effectively dead. End of an era.

My general rule of thumb is if there is a Chinese instant food or restaurant that has this name: ‘First name last name Food Name’ it is usually worth trying, because the social shame of putting your name to a product that isn’t amazing is just.. too high
Lastly with Chinese food specifically, don’t be put off by words ‘like superior’ or ‘supreme’. On packaging or menu items. Those terms map very precisely to certain cooking terms and they really do mostly mean ‘best quality’
There are only two options, as an engineering manager:
- you're the constraint
- you're finding the constraint

Any kind of leader, but especially in technical roles, is tempted to do the work.

If you're routinely doing the work, there's no one else doing the things that only a manager can & should do.

The main thing you should be doing is ensuring that all of your direct reports aren't blocked.

When they're waiting on you, then you are the constraint.

Tesla is no longer the world’s largest electric vehicle maker.

Tesla delivered 1.64 million EVs in 2025, down -9% from 2024. Chinese rival BYD, sold 2.26 million vehicles in 2025 making it the world’s biggest EV maker.

Tesla’s stock price ended 2025 up +18%.

Tesla loses title of world's top EV maker to China rival amid customer revolt and stiff competition

Tesla lost its crown as the world’s bestselling electric vehicle maker on Friday as a customer revolt over Elon Musk’s right-wing politics, expiring U.S. tax breaks to buyers and stiff overseas competition pushed sales down for a second year in a row. Tesla said that it delivered 1.64 million vehicles in 2025, down 9% from a year ago. Chinese rival BYD, which sold 2.26 million vehicles last year, is now the biggest EV maker. For the fourth quarter, sales totaled 418,227, falling short of the 440,000 that analysts polled by FactSet expected. The sales total were hit hard by the expiration of a $7,500 tax credit that was phased out by the Trump administration at the end of September.

Apple should allow alt engine for the rest of the world too. No point holding it back.

Last week I solved an interesting problem - how to get English subtitles working from a Star Trek DVD.

Short answer: it had no English subtitles, but had Closed Captions info in its analog video stream. So it was a matter of making the DVD player to spit the CC out and the TV to ingest and display CC.
