Another day, another weird computer conversion.
This is the shell of a Tandy 1500HD I got cheap (complete, but horribly corroded inside from water exposure; no salvaging any original electronics unfortunately). So, I figured I'd at least do something cool with the housing!
I've sourced a 7" LCD display, which I'll gut for the panel. Already have a Raspberry Pi 4B for the "brains". Powering both with a mini UPS and a 12Vdc > 5Vdc buck converter for the Pi. LCD draws 5W, Pi wants 15W, mini UPS puts out 25W so I've got room there.
I have a couple used low profile mechanical keyboards on the way too. Will gut one and mount it in the original keyboard location.
I still need to figure out ports and such, but I've got lots of options there. Goal is to have Ethernet, 2x USB, and HDMI out, plus a USB-C port for charging. One USB port will be used internally for the keyboard. Headphone jack is optional. Also, no trackpad on this one!
