It's already week 2 of my #ResearchLeave 😱
Last week was mostly spent picking up loose ends and doing lots of the #InvisibleWork of research, like documenting, tidying, archiving, and depositing various data sets and related materials. These are time-consuming and often frustrating tasks. We can be honest here, and not fool ourselves and others.
For the time being, the "credit" or "merit" we get from doing #OpenResearch #OpenHumanities is benign even though it might be the right thing to do…
For reasons unrelated to my #ResearchLeave, I am in #HomeOffice today. And it is COLD 🥶 at home. No heating on if no one's at home – and I forgot that doing home office means someone is home… 🤦‍♀️
Today is Day 1 of my 3rd #ResearchLeave this year. It will be another 2-week stretch where I try to get continuous work done on my projects.
Initially, the plan was to work on the #DataPaper for the Edvard Munch correspondence metadata. Still, I might have to postpone that one because my colleague is unavailable this month.
That means it's time to move along the #Danish translation of the #EthicaComplementoria and some related presentations?!
Good morning! This week is packed w/ exciting stuff before my 3rd #ResearchLeave this year. Today is dedicated to preparing presentations; on Tuesday, my #DigitalMethods team has its monthly meeting, then there's #ResearchSupportPartnershipUiO #Wednesday & on Thursday, I present about #NorKorr #NorwegianCorrespondences; all the while, the #BugOrFeature symposium is happening at the #MuseumOfCulturalHistory #KHM. Friday, the @dhnb ##LaTeXProject template for the #BookOfAbstracts will be finished.
So, I had the UiO-GPT create 2 scripts: one for creating 2 txt files, concatenating the contents of 10 individual files in a particular order each, and then the other for comparing these 2 files line by line and creating a CSV file containing only those lines that had differences in them.
Tweaking and fixing stuff still took time, but I am happy with the progress and found a sensible way of using #GPT. This concludes my #ResearchLeave: I progressed quite a bit w/ the #EthicaComplementoria!
I haven't talked much about my current #ResearchLeave this time. After a turbulent, travel-intense, and health-depleting summer, there was too much on my ordinary To-Do list, and it didn't feel right to hide away in my research cave. So, last week was largely spent checking off things on my list that had deadlines or needed others' input. This week, I try to focus on tying up some threads from my #EthicaComplementoria research sprint in June and see how far I get without overdoing it.
Officially, my #2 2-week #ResearchLeave this year has started, but I have some cannot-postpone stuff that needs doing. So, begrudgingly, I will check them off my to-do list today.
On a different note: This leave was planned for working on the Edvard Munch correspondence metadata paper. However, due to scheduling issues with my co-author, Munch is postponed to November. I will instead work on proofing the #EthicaComplementoria edition for the #GermanTextArchive and work on its Danish translation.
🧵 3/ #ResearchSupportPartnershipUiO It's a slow day; might be due to the examinations, where teaching researchers are occupied w/ grading and guiding students. It's also hot here in Oslo, and many avoid coming to the office if they can work better at home or the cabin.
In the meantime, I am preparing my upcoming #ResearchLeave. My main focus is on drafting the #DataPaper for the #EdvardMunch #Correspondence #Metadata we created from the #DigitalScholarlyEdition https://emunch.no/welcome.xhtml

Yesterday was my last day of teaching before a hard earned semester of #researchleave. Like most people working in #HEUK I am #BURNTOUT. So one of my research #goals for the next few months is to rest. I have a few things I need to do but my brain needs a break. #AcademicBurnout #rest
