Related bird news: we also have redstarts nesting in our garden, and they hatched while we were not looking :)

Le curieux.

Alors que je guettais les passages à l'abreu-voir, ce mâle de rougequeue noir est arrivé sur un des perchoirs et d'après les petits cris et mouvements dans ma direction, il m'a vite réperé sous ma tente affût.
N'ayant peur de rien et étant probablement un peu curieux, il s'est approche à une quarantaine de cm de moi, sur une des branches utilisées pour habiller la tente. J'ai été obligé de réduire la focale pour prendre ce piaf intrigué.

Gartenrotschwänze gehören zu den Langstreckenziehern, die in Afrika, südlich der Sahara in der afrikanischen Savanne, überwintern. In Deutschland sind sie von April bis September zu beobachten. Der Wegzug verschiebt sich klimabedingt aber immer weiter nach hinten.

Der Gartenrotschwanz steht auf der Vorwarnliste. Früher waren sie häufig in Gärten zu sehen, da diese aber inzwischen gut aufgeräumt sind, bieten sie kaum Schutz und wenig Nahrung. Deshalb haben sich Gartenrotschwänze in Laub- und Mischwälder, aber auch auf Streuobstwiesen zurückgezogen. Seit einiger Zeit nimmt ihr Bestand glücklicherweise wieder zu.
