🇺🇸: The Common Redshank (Tringa totanus) is a medium-sized wader in the sandpiper family. It measures about 27–29 cm in length and is easily recognized by its long, bright red legs and straight bill with a red base. Redshanks breed in wetlands, meadows, and along coasts across Europe and Asia. They are migratory birds, wintering in southern Europe, Africa, and southern Asia. Their diet mainly consists of insects, worms, crustaceans, and mollusks, which they forage in shallow water or mudflats.

🇩🇪: Der Rotschenkel (Tringa totanus) ist ein mittelgroßer Watvogel aus der Familie der Schnepfenvögel. Er erreicht eine Körperlänge von etwa 27–29 cm und fällt besonders durch seine langen, leuchtend roten Beine und den geraden Schnabel mit roter Basis auf. Rotschenkel brüten in Feuchtgebieten, Wiesen und an Küsten in Europa und Asien. Sie sind Zugvögel und überwintern in Südeuropa, Afrika und Südasien. Ihre Nahrung besteht vor allem aus Insekten, Würmern, Krebstieren und Weichtieren, die sie in seichtem Wasser oder auf Schlickflächen suchen.
