KatherineSpotted Redshanks are very rare here (six spotted ever in this province), but one blew into town for a couple of days in October. All the Dowitchers and Yellow Legs appeared to instantly accept him as one of their own no matter how flagrantly he showed off his scarlet legs.

Surprisingly, I was the only person in the hide over high tide at Bowling Green Marsh this morning. It was sooooo peaceful. Thirty-three species of birds including two Spoonbill and a Spotted Redshank.

Sunday morning and a pleasant couple of hours at Bowling Green Marsh reserve before the rains came. Highlights were a Ruff and a Spotted Redshank (so it was all about red legs!) amongst the hundreds of Black-tailed Godwit and Avocet. Good for the souls and good for the mind.
