When I photographed this red-footed falcon, I was simply thrilled to have it so close. Only later, while looking at the image, did I realize what it was holding in its beak, a lizard.
A reminder that every moment in nature tells a story. Sometimes, that story hits harder than expected.

Of course, I know that the falcon has to eat. But witnessing this moment even unintentionally touched me.

@Laszlo Für mich ein klarer juveniler #Rotfußfalke (#RedFootedFalcon, #Aftenfalk, #FalcoVespertinus). Juveniler #Baumfalke hat lange dunkle Streifen an Bauch und Brust und dunklere Unterflügel. Gesichtsstreifen unterm Auge ist länger. Zwischendurch Rütteln ist normal beim Rotfuß, Zugzeit hat angefangen und dann ist der auch in Mitteleuropa zu sehen.
