@dougcoulson I can add an interesting corollary. There was a plan to develop the Yorkshire village of #Ravenscar as a small holiday report, but the initiative failed. Interestingly, the proposed street layout made it onto the 1910 #UK #ordnancesurvey map. This link shows the unbuilt town in all its imagined glory. "There and back again"

Went up the #CinderTrack and back from #Scarborough to #Ravenscar yesterday morning.

There is a diversion for some repair works between Scarborough and Burniston, but apart from that, all good.

It's more or less a gentle incline all the way to Ravenscar, but it makes the return trip most enjoyable! 😁

Spot the seal

Dropped down the cliffs to Old Peak — or South Cheek as it used to be called — below Ravenscar, hoping to see a seal or two.

And a few seals we did see. The very knowledgeable warden from the Yorkshire Seals Group estimated there were about 500 — he has known up to a thousand.
