The UK is in absolutely dire need of #ElectoralReform. We must join the vast majority of nations which use some form of #ProportionalRepresentation or #RankedVoting.

Saw my first #ElectoralReform sign in the wild (nice work @sboots). Will the #Yukon votes for #RankedVoting November 3rd?

@sboots I'm opposed to many types of #ElectoralReform, but I do think that #RankedVoting could improve things a bit on the margin. I hope the Yukon tries this out.

Are Yukoners generally dissatisfied with the current electoral system, or is this essentially a top-down project? Has there been any polling on the question? I see that the plebiscite is non-binding: have the parties expressed any intention of what they will do if more Yukoners support this reform than oppose it?

I'm going to be unable to attend a public protest for a while, but I'll keep reposting these links as long as I can. There's an art build on 8/9 listed and some opportunities to gather signatures for choice voting in San Diego, if the street corner protests aren't your style

Words & Deeds
NYC Primary uses #RankedVoting. As an individual voter, you will be asked to rank them. JFREJA looked at the wide field and gave an example of #ApprovalVoting. They think that both will be good mayors of NYC, but don't rank Cuomo

Tomorrow #Iceland will elect a new president. There are quite a few candidates. From what I've seen many voters will vote strategically against one candidate instead of their own favorite candidate. This is not ideal.

The solution is simple. #RankedVoting. If I really liked someone who was polling at 1% I wouldn't have to think strategically at all. Just put them at nr. 1 and then my second favorite and so on. Then the vote travels down my list.

#question of the day: why does the #UnitedStates not have #RankedVoting?

We (citizens of the #US) talk sometimes about getting away from the two-party system - wouldn't that be a natural consequence of ranked voting?
