With the #panning - following the moving object while taking a picture - it is more difficul than I would have thought getting the object sharp while bluring the background in motion blur. First one has to be constantly following the object and keep it in the centre of focus. Autofocus comes in very handy here because following the cyclists is using all my cognitive abilities. Especially because you would not follow the object with a constant speed. Even if the cyclist would move with constant velocity the camera will have to move faste the closer a by pathing cyclist is.

But even when I manage to follow the moving object an find it to be sharp on the picture I find that even with one single object I see variatons of sharp areas and others in motion blur. I am not only talking about the legs pushing the pedals and therfore moving in different velocities than cyclist and bicylce. On this picture you may find her jeans and jacket to be sharp but but, face and the front of the bike are not.

With this picture I tried a shutter speed of 1/15 of a second. So far I have found 1/30 to 1/60 to be enough for some good motion blur in the background but I wonder if I could improve the panning to achieve even that rather long exposure, because the background at 1/15 is not just blury it shows long horizontal lines that could look even better if I have some lights or single spots in the background.

#BerlinCycleChic - wenigstens ein bisschen. meine neue alte ist eine Fujifilm X-T 3 und obwohl ich fast drei Tage in Berlin war, hatte ich kaum Zeit sie in Ruhe oder überhaupt kennenzulernen. Die letzte gute Stunde vor der Abfahrt zurück nach Kiel hatte ich einen ruhigen Platz und null Ablenkung, um mich in ruhe darin zu versuchen, die Radfahrenden mit dem 50er Objektiv auf der anderen Straßenseite scharf ins Bild zu bekommen. Es nicht oft geklappt. Aber dafür stand dann plötzlich dieses Fahrrad neben mir in aller Ruhe und wie gut bitte passen die beiden zusammen. Er ganz in schwarz, es ganz in schwarz, alles an dem Paar aus Fahrer und Fahrrad hat für mich Berlin-Vibes.

So richtig kann ich mich nicht für eines der Fotos entscheiden, was wohl auch daran liegt, dass ich noch nicht weiß, ob ich noch nur Fahrräder fotografieren möchte oder nicht doch die Menschen und ihre Fahrräder. Mal sehen was wird.
