PCRS friends, can you direct me to some readings on the racialization of Irish folks in premodern & early modern Europe?
I'm especially curious to see if there are studies documenting the reception of English discourse (i.e. the representation of the Irish as barbaric people to be colonized/subdued) elsewhere in early modern Europe

Congratulations to Dr Patricia Akhimie, who has been named Director of the Folger Institute. A GLORIOUS day indeed for our #ShakeRace and #Raceb4Race collective.
Hello #hcommons! A brief #introduction.
I'm Ariela, and I'm a graduate student at the Institute of Fine Art at New York University studying #medieval and #Renaissance #art history. Part of #medievodons, #bookhistodons, and #histodons. I'm currently working on the performative uses of crucifixes with moving limbs as props in Passion Plays in #Italy. I'm also interested in questions of premodern race (#RaceB4Race) and cultural difference with respect to these performances.
Mostly posting about medieval nonsense, art history, disability justice, and my dog (named #Dante). Occasionally posting my Halloween costumes.
#Introduction time! My name is Yasmine Hachimi and I'm a #PublicHumanities Fellow at the Newberry Library.
My research explores the eroticization of Tudor queens in a range of popular genres, from #earlymodern letters and plays, to tv and #fanfiction today. I also consider the affordances and limitations of color-conscious #casting in #perioddrama.
