Next up for reading. The AI Con by Emily M. Bender and Alex Hanna and then Resisting AI by Dan McQuillan.
Finished a first reading of Dan McQuillan's "Resisting AI. An Anti-fascist Approach of Artificial Intelligence" (2022). Should probably read it again... Very good read.
It has two clearly differentiated parts. The first part, which is an analysis and critique of AI as it is and t performs right now (not speculations about its future), I found extraordinary, and scary. It makes clear connections between AI, particularly in its social applications, and discrimination, violence, necropolitics and para-fascism. It is quite amazing how some things written in 2022 were so prescient of today in 2025.
The second part dealing with more general principles and ideas about how to socially build an "Anti-fascist AI", I found less consistent. As AI for McQuillam needs to be understood as a multilayer "apparatus" of technologies, institutions and ideology, the change would mean building another "apparatus" --- let's say, a non capitalistic apparatus. And this of course will be a long and complex practical project...

@motorhueso did you read it?!
I should try to write a more detailed review, especially about the arguments in the first part, that I believe are not so obvious for everyone. At least they weren't for me.
