btw, the fun thing about the procedure is that it temporarily shuts down (force-relaxes) the muscle in your throat that people with R-CPD can't relax, by putting some botox in it,
BUT even after the botox has "worn out", a majority of people (~80%) retain the ability to burp!
so that gives rise to the idea that there's some muscle memory thing going on; that your brain then understands how to relax that muscle from then on.
so THAT gives rise to the (well, my) idea that you should be able to somehow do this manually, learn to control this muscle, without having the procedure at all.
now I'm not super sure if that's true but I've already been trying loads of stuff, like massaging the throat a little, moving my head in weird angles, trying swallowing in weird ways etc. - no luck so far
but now I did find this topic on reddit https://www.reddit.com/r/noburp/comments/hgrk0e/my_journey_on_how_i_solved_rcpd_without_the_botox/
and behold, if I put my fingers in my throat in this specific way, some sound comes out that sounds a lot like a burp! (can't be sure since I don't know how it sounds "from the outside" lol) *MUCH EXCITE!!*
(I don't have much of a gag reflex, which I guess may be related to the whole R-CPD thing)
I'm gonna practice this a lot and see if it works! would be cool if I can make this work and not need the procedure at all :) and even if I end up not being able to learn this, it's great to have this manual method of "air vomiting"; maybe if I do this regularly after eating/drinking, I get less bloated to start with
I hope people with #RCPD find this or that thread and that it may help them! 🙏
