I realize that there are reasons that Mastodon doesn't allow #QuoteTooting the way that Twitter has #QuoteTweeting.
That said, even after 9 months of using Mastodon almost exclusively, I still catch myself trying to quote toot something only to remember that (essentially) I can't.
Blurred out the text because the content has NOTHING to do with this post
But since when does Mastodon have #QuoteTooting?!?!?!?
I'm viewing this via the web interface on my server FYI
We are against #quoteBoosting or #quoteTooting, or whatever. Fediverse grew in popularity because it was different. It was not a #timeSink either.
Not feeling the pressure to add to the conversation when sharing was a breath of fresh air for us, moving to fedi.

If I had one wish for Mastodon it would be replacing Boosts with Quote Toots.
Right now, boosting seems to be encouraged as a means of promoting a toot. I mostly don’t care for those viral toots, at all. I care for the opinions of people I follow directly.
Quote Toots would get me more of the latter, without sacrificing the promotion aspect. Whereas Boosts currently just make me hit the „mute Boosts by Person X“ button more often, unfortunately.
Attached: 1 image This is a quote-toot, Taylor. You can do this anytime you want. It takes an extra step because the platform works differently than Twitter, thank god. As someone who reports on abusive behavior on social media, you should know that the quote-tweet is one of the primary sources of harassment on Twitter. Perhaps barging into someone’s house and demanding they change the drapes before dinner is not the best way to ingratiate yourself? https://mastodon.social/@taylorlorenz/109565436163660592
