I followed the path of the Byde Mill Brook this morning through #Corsham in #wiltshire.
.
I recorded my journey with #walkingpages and looked/listened for clues as to where this little river flowed - https://queerriver.com/2023/05/09/following-the-path-of-the-byde-mill-brook/
.
I’ll be following a similar route on a Creative River Walk I’m leading for Pound Arts in August in connection with my exhibition #DrawingOnWater2023

Creative River Walk with Artist James Aldridge

Meet James at his exhibition Drawing on water to hear more about how he walks and makes beside Wiltshire’s rivers, before leaving The Pound to explore the nearby Byde Mill Brook. Together we will use creative mark-making techniques to record what we notice about the Brook, think about how it has been changed by humans over time, and discuss what it needs from us in the future. 10am – 1pm. Suitable for adults (16+) and accompanied older children (12+). Materials provided.

Hello people… a slightly delayed Happy New Year to you all!

I’ve been doing my tax return, isn’t that exciting ?! And, much more satisfying, adding some new drawings to my #QueerRiver blog, made with botanical inks from plants that grow along my local stretch of the River Avon here in Wiltshire.

Breathing in the Mist: Recent River Drawings

Queer River

Drawings with botanical inks made using plants from near the River Avons (Salisbury and Bristol). Ongoing #QueerRiver research.

Thinking about big bodies snd the word ‘Quagmire’.

Plus two photos from my walk with the dog earlier, of watery ditches/river surface.

Hello, looking to follow more people interested in/working with #rivers #riverhealth #riverfutures and #riverrestoration on here… any recommendations?

Lots of ppl on the bird site but trying to spend more time on here!

My own river related research/artwork is currently focused on the #QueerRiver and #RippleEffectSalisbury projects:

About the Project

Queer River
A taste of this morning’s Ripple Effect (art, archaeology and wellbeing) project session, meeting Andy and Alex from Wessex Archaeology and exploring how living alongside the Salisbury Avon might have been in Palaeolithic times.
Rivers, ecology & prehistory - v much my cup of tea and very relevant to my #QueerRiver research too.
We got to handle beautiful artefacts too, including a flint axe head of up to 1/2 million years old!
