There really isn’t an aspect of mutual aid that isn’t connected to another. This got me thinking: What’s the prevalence and role of openly #queer farmers? Is it significant? The answer I learned is a resounding yes.

Why We Should Support Queer Farmers - Prism & Pen - Medium
Queer farmers play a major role in our agricultural and environmental initiatives, and we need to support them
Prism & PenHey-o! It's time for a new Zine of the Gay post! This time Kit's exploring Farm News, the zine that was included in First Root Farm's CSA box each week.
https://gittings.qzap.org/farm-news-by-first-root-farm/
We've got 8 issues from the 2010 season, though the zine ran until the farm closed in 2017

Farm News by First Root Farm - QZAP - The Queer Zine Archive Project
When it comes to queerness and farming in the U.S., they are frequently seen as not only opposites but oppositional to each other. This zine shows that farming doesn’t have to be the work of the strong, solo, man’s man homesteader, and can instead be incredibly communal, fun, creative, and most importantly, queer. Farm News

We are currently looking for 3 farmer-caretakers to join the The Lifeboat Academy team.

A model of resilience and regeneration at the person, place and community level
A footprint farm working to provide a complete diet for 16 people
A retreat centre offering the opportunity to participate in an ongoing, living experiment
You can read more about The Lifeboat Academy here.
We are looking for long-term Farmer-Caretakers to join our existing team to develop Spalding Valley Farm as a model of regenerative agriculture and cooperation. Our ideal candidates combine:

Our search is open-ended (no deadline for application). We'll be reviewing your applications to see if there's a fit, and if so, we'll invite you to a 2-3 day stay on the farm. If that's successful, we'll be inviting you to go through our onboarding process on the way to becoming a farmer-caretaker.
We are also open to potential interns who would like to join our team this season.
What we are able to offer:
room and board in exchange for your on-farm activity (no salary)
sweat equity in the land and profit-sharing
fellow-farmers for inspiration and collaboration
mutual peer support to build what comes after
a sense of adventure
47 acres of land to play with.
Google Docs#throwbackthursday to April 2020, transplanting carrots in the cold, wet clay soil. We harvested them a few months later and quite predictably they looked wild, but they sold very well at the #farmersmarket all things considered.
