A lesson Jennifer Rubin thinks progressive Americans would be well-advised to learn from Orbán's defeat:

"Broad coalitions are essential. Though certain issues are dealbreakers (e.g., reform, democracy), constituencies need not agree on everything. Purity tests are for losers."

Purity politics are the bane of left-wing groups in the US. They do the dirty work of fascism — dividing us — for the right.

Americans in general have little sense of solidarity; this is especially true of the left in the US.
