Here's an idea (and maybe it's already being done?)

Federated collective/volume purchases.

Could we, for example, use Mastodon or another #fediverse network to connect people who want to buy things together and get group discounts?

I'm thinking that, e.g., the NYT and other paywalled news outlets might give us a good deal on online subscriptions if 100,000 of us show up and ask.

Edit: I just saw that #PurchasingCooperative is a hashtag. Anyone know anything?
