Manually rolled Plex back to 1.43.0.10492-121068a07 via the .deb, and I'm able to enable HDR Tonemapping again without breaking 11th Gen Intel HW transcoding to SDR Google TV streamers.

So, it looks like v.1.43.1.10540-3972d551c breaks HDR Tonemapping. (I thought I was pulling that it from the Plex apt repo, but it was apparently from the TTeck autoupdate script. So I disabled that.)

Plex

Plex seems to be randomly & unpredictably falling back to software transcoding for the last day or two... I think it's an HDR thing? (And unfortunately, almost all of my stuff is HDR.)

I just watched Ancient Aliens - The Mystery of Skinwalker Ranch (S15E10)!

This is nice, my daughter was watching My Little Pony on the ad-supported #plex streaming service and the ads it chose to show to kids are for real gambling apps… with real money… with cartoon characters. Not cool, Zeus. ⚡️
Would be cool if #Plex could just automatically opportunistically record movies and TV on my watchlist as they show up on the OTA schedules.

I just noticed #Plex doing something I've not seen before. It used to be that if a client was streaming a video with a subtitle format it couldn't display, the server would burn the subtitles in, triggering a transcode.

This evening I've seen it transcoding SRT subs into ASS for a Chromecast that doesn't talk SRT. This has a much lower processing requirement, and doesn't degrade the video quality.
