Spent the weekend jamming on #plan9port (just for #acmeEditor) and a bit of "bare metal" C programming for an ATTiny3217 (paired with an ADXL355 accelerometer). Alternated between #openbsd (on a Thinkpad Carbon X1) and an M1 MacBook Pro.
Porting support for the antiquated avr-gcc to OpenBSD was a pain.
Nice to know that if I wanted to ditch my MacBook and go rogue, I can pick up where I left off on my OpenBSD Thinkpad.

Because I had forgotten since the last time I had to figure this out: to get plan9port compiling on linux mint (and likely others), ‘apt install libx11-dev libxt-dev libxext-dev libfreetype-dev libfontconfig-dev’ to resolve missing dependencies.

Can you share some hints how to change background color in acme under #plan9port.

Ok I think this is going to be the closes to match my emacs theme

#plan9 #plan9port

Trying to get acme to have similar colors as my emacs. I think to learn how allocimagemix works

#plan9 #plan9port #emacs

How to create a shortcut in Windows 11/10 to acme from plan9port after you install it in WSL. Create a shortcut, put something like this in your target

C:\Windows\System32\wslg.exe -u root -- /usr/local/plan9/bin/9 acme -f /lib/font/bit/kurinto/kurinto.18.mono.font

set your start path to where you want it to open.
You are welcome. #plan9port #acmeeditor #windows #plan9 #wsl

I wonder how far I could get implementing a #vim mode in #plan9port #acme with #sxkhd (https://github.com/baskerville/sxhkd) and acmeeval (https://pkg.go.dev/git.sr.ht/~mkhl/cmd/acme/acmeeval)

Even just combining #dmenu with acmeeval could lead to a lot of cool stuff. Especially when I'm travelling without a proper mouse.

@clarity You might try my #plan9port #acme fork (https://hacklab.nilfm.cc/acme) with sane keybindings, customizeable settings localized in the config.h file, and some other nice things not in upstream like being able to tell visually with the cursor color which window is focused when using click-to-focus. I've used basically nothing else (outside quick editing sessions for like config files and stuff, which I use #micro for - another good option for its intuitive keybindings, extensibility, and mouse support) for over a year now.
Anyone building something new want to #fediHire a polyglot dev who works with #c, #go, #js, etc. with a focus on #permacomputing and #sustainableSoftware?

https://hacklab.nilfm.cc if you're curious...

Currently in the early stages of researching and designing for a text editor/shell hybrid (think acme but floating windows) that runs in #plan9 as well as in #unix via #plan9port

And I take #webdev and #appdev contract work in general as https://lightcrystal.systems (2 projects in progress currently).

Boosts are appreciated, it feels really urgent for me to get out of my current corporate situation.
