Native to the (greater) #SFBay Area, they are endangered due to habitat loss; their sole host plant is the California pipevine, aristolochia californica

Avi Rappoport (avirr)#Pipevine swallowtail #caterpillar — I’ve had the vine for years and seen a few caterpillars, but this year has been amazing, at least 10 today eating all the young leaves. Another 20+ probable eggs. I hope I see the #butterflies eventually. #gardening

We added a bunch of #host and #nectar plants including three types of #pipevine, two types of #passionflower, and two types of #milkweed. We also planted a really cool exotic #Coccoloba #rugosa a native #Acacia and an #Abutilon #xhybridum
