#PikaBackup is very nice, Borg backups for everyone, with a usable, every day user first interface.

I've set it up for my mum. Now, I'd really like to be able to monitor that backups are humming along nicely, and be warned if they failed. Anyone managed that?

#PikaBackup se acaba de actualizar para ignorar el aviso de seguridad "post-quantum cryptography on servers" de #OpenSSH; mi copia la hago en un servidor.

Me sentía como #JohnConnor al recibir ese aviso de seguridad del futuro. Al John Connor de ahora se la suda, je je.

I don't really know how Pika Backup interacts with the borg integrity check thing and BorgBase has been giving me warnings about lack of post-quantum key exchange for a while. This is fine when doing backups but integrity checks say that it failed. I found the Pika Backup log file in "~/.var/app/org.gnome.World.PikaBackup/config/pika-backup/history.json" and the only stuff is the warnings just like the UI popup (search for "check"). Is it just a confusing UI thing?

Achievement unlocked 😂 Neben dem Backup auf einer lokalen Festplatte und dem NAS heute auch testhalber mal ein großes Offsite Backup mit einer @hetzner Storagebox, #borgbackup und #pikabackup eingerichtet.

IV. Stratégie de Sauvegarde

• Mini-PC (Serveur) : Snapshots BTRFS quotidiens du volume @Docker + Copie rsync sur disque externe via script automatisé.

• PC Fixe : #PikaBackup pour une sauvegarde chiffrée et versionnée du /home (hors caches et données Nextcloud qui sont sur un disque interne dédié) sauvegardé vers Nextcloud.

• #Fairphone 6 @e_mydata : SeedVault pour la sauvegarde des données d'applications vers @nextcloud (via @davx5app )

@mikix Congrats! 🥳 As a regular #Restic user I'm gonna check this out. 🙂

It's kind of funny that #Linux got more user friendly and secure #Backup solutions than #Windows. 😅

I wish though I could recommend a platform agnostic solution like yours (and #PikaBackup).

A question about backups. Is there anything wrong with using something like Pika Backup and have scheduled (daily) backups saved to a folder synced to the cloud using something like pCloud?

This being combined with less frequent manual backups to an external drive.
