Lilbits: Nothing Phone 3(a), a DIY handheld, Fedora for RISC-V, and a uConsole add-on for (way) more wireless

Nothing plans to unveil its next mid-range smartphone on March 4th. But Android Headlines has spilled the beans on pretty much everything but the price with an article that includes leaked images and specifications for the upcoming phones (there are two of them).

Update: Nothing has released some official pictures and a video showing the design of the upcoming Nothing Phone (3a).

This DIY handheld combines two Raspberry Pi Pico boards (one for CPU and one for GPU) with a keyboard and 5 inch display. But the real reason to watch the video is for Abe's near-deadpan description of the complicated build process. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rnwPmoWMGqk #Handheld #RaspberryPiPico #PicoVision #AbesProjects

I really want to see if I can do something with these and #PicoVision, but need to not get too distracted from #TinyTapeout demoscene project otherwise I won’t finish it…
Also, I should sleep.

Anyone fancy a #Picovision?
The board is finally back in stock at Pimoroni:

It's a fun gadget to play with, plenty of potential yet to be plundered. And maybe there will be a Compo #001 at some point?
Recommendation: You probably won't need the kit. Everyone here will have a million USB cables, HDMI leads, and spare SD cards, right?... but I do recommend the USB Accessory Injector!

Saw this https://hachyderm.io/@vnglst/111828811496422610 and so obviously had to make a #PicoVision version. It's so pleasing to watch!

#picovision competition results are in and... I got a double-win! Thanks Pimoroni ♥️

Peak Ambition is rough around the edges, but I'm happy it mostly came together, and - as per the name - aimed to do quite a bit for the short dev time.
I think I'd try C++ on the next go 😄

I hold Pimoroni in very high regard. Brilliant gadgets, beautiful packaging, supported by smart and enthusiastic people, but, ehh... I'm disappointed they let the #Picovision competition fall off the table. Entries went in a month ago now 🫤

On the plus side, I ditched the cheap capture card and bought an Elgato thingy, so I should be able to make a better recording once I figure the tech out.
