MarcToday I finally got the last parts for my uConsole. I replaced the not-so-good WiFi antenna and the not-so-good trackball. I added an anti-glare screen protector and an expansion card with an Ethernet port. It uses a Raspberry Pi CM4 with 8 GB of RAM. The system feels faster than I expected. Maybe it can replace my laptop when traveling. The 5-inch screen is large enough to do small programming tasks, and compiling software works fast enough for me. #uConsole
I may have been frustrated last week and ordered a little something (+ parts for modding it). Now I am tracking all the shipments and can't wait for the parts to arrive. I haven't felt this kind of excitement for decades. #uConsole

Neil - G7UFOI’ve been attempting to get the #freedv AppImage for #flexradio running on the RPi4 I use as my Allstar Node. I couldn’t get it to decode.
Managed to get it running on my #uconsole and received ON4LX operating on #qo100.
Spoiler: there is a firewall on the Allstar Node.
Gabor PihajI’ve been meaning to put my #uConsole to use for a while. I want to use it instead of my phone for some everyday tasks (emails, dashboards, etc...), to avoid distractions.
I was looking into terminal dashboards and I came across #wtfutil and #sampler, but none of them covered the functionality I need: calendars, weather, remote host stats and I didn’t like the ergonomy of these apps. “Obviously” I ended up rolling my own using #golang and #bubbletea.
In the past few days I worked on the calendar widget, so I learned a lot about #CalDav and #iCalendar, and in the end I was even able to contribute to https://github.com/emersion/go-webdav.

Jetzt mit CM5, NVME, USB3, RTC und LAN! Orginal bleiben eigentlich nur noch Gehäuse, Tastatur und Bildschirm. Aber dafür taugt die uConsole jetzt als vollwertiger Linux Computer.
