Given the strain on public funds caused by high dropout rates, the Department of Finance (DOF) suggested that the government's free tertiary education program be reserved for deserving students.

Thanks to volunteers, Phase 2 of the #OSMaPaaralan school mapping project of the #OpenStreetMap community in the #Phlippines has mapped over 50% of outstanding tasks, raising the total mapped schools to 48,264.

Except for provinces in the Bangsamoro region, and Lanao del Sur, over 90% of schools has been mapped in each province.
