Remember when the Pharmacy Guild of Australia and Peter Dutton were claiming that the governmentβs move to halve the price of a few hundred prescription medications was going to cause supply shortages?
Well, here we are a year later and⦠surprise! Nothing happened and their claims were just scaremongering.
@erstwhile I have decided to quietly boycott my local pharmacy I have been using for over 20 years. Lucky I am inner city and plenty of alternatives. Looking forward to a chemist warehouse opening soon(ish)
Lost trust in #PharmacyGuild
name and shame. I wonβt go into another #Priceline.
Trent Twomey from the Pharmacy Guild is a Liberal party shill who failed to declare a conflict of interest when he sat on a panel deciding what businesses should receive regional jobs grants. His wife and business partner also failed to declare their conflict of interest and received $2,415,400 to build a $5 million pharmacy distribution facility.
The Auditor General found they failed to declare their conflicts. What happens. Nothing.
They are all crooks.
"Pharmacy Guild unleashes robocalls, text messages and posters opposing PBS changesβ
This seems... highly dishonest π€¨ Also: incredibly tone deaf given current cost of living pressures.
Let them weep. Who is more important, people with chronic conditions who struggle to afford health care or Pharmacists who are making record profits? The money is going straight back into pharmacies where they are needed.
The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners president Nicole Higgins: "At a time when the Pharmacy Guild has recorded the biggest profits in pharmacy, this is fear-mongering.β
The government estimates it will save Australians more than $1.6 billion over the next four years.
βMr Butler said the change would save $1.2 billion in dispensing fees over the next four years, which would be "entirely" reinvested into community pharmacies.β
The LNP is so lazy and so beholden to the Pharmacy Guild it ignored the 2018 recommendation from the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee to do this. Theyβd rather let the poor die than give up the political donations.
Five years later and people are a lot poorer. The drugs affected are all for serious chronic conditions that people canβt live without.
