I'm watching a recording of Rachel Podger with the AAM, and I've suddenly noticed that not one of the violinists seems to have clamped their violin in place with that tense chin that my teacher insisted on. Is that a #PeriodInstrument thing or have fashions in violin-playing changed, I wonder?
Cranked up the violone to practice for this Sunday's Bach Cantata performance - https://robbielink.com/event/music-for-christ-the-king-sunday-by-johann-sebastian-bach/ - and found myself warming up with this tune that has been plaguing me for the last 25 years or so. I don't know where I heard it or who wrote it or if this is even how it really goes but I'm always drawn to these tunes that can't decide if they're major or minor. #Bach #Violone #Baroque #EarlyMusic #PeriodInstrument
