Voices of Music have delivered again. Here they perform the above-named piece for solo violin and basso continuo:

It's a delightful piece and a delightful performance. Some of the tonal transitions between movements presage Buxtehude, slightly younger than Leonarda.

It's not often these days that I get introduced to new pieces by Telemann, but here is a delightful trio sonata he expanded for flute and viola d'amore: (YouTube link) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ns-C4nV04Ao

Update! Kudos go to SouprMatt, @mls14, for solving the mystery! It's called a "Lautenwerck." Please follow his thread on this post for more info about that!

Thank you to everyone who jumped on this immediately and gave so much helpful input! Happy Holidays to you all!

Here's the video it was shown in!

What the real thing probably sounded like:

OP:

Does anyone know what this type of piano is called? The painting is from Germany in the 1700s or thereabouts. It's currently located in an Austrian collection. At first, I thought the piano itself was German, as that's what was said in the video this clipped screenshot is from, but now I really don't know.

As suggested, I'm editing to add some hashtags! Additional hashtag suggestions welcome!

So far I'm only 2 chapters in, but it seems really good for learning about the connotations and affekts associated with the dance forms. It has a lot of direct quotations (translated) from period sources and goes into etymology.

For choreography a newer work like Meredith Little's 'Dance and the Music of JS Bach' would probably be more suitable.
