'Green Party co-leader Chlöe Swarbrick told the crowd that dependence on fossil fuels was a ticking time bomb that the current government seemed "intent on lacing... into absolutely everything that we do".

"I asked the prime minister in the House on the week or so that the LNG import facility was properly finally announced whether he could name one expert, one economist, one person from the energy sector who was supportive of this plan, who wasn't a fossil fuel lobbyist or somebody from his office, and he couldn't," she said.'

It’s incredibly frustrating to see Chippy relentlessly focused on making #NZLabour appear more appealing to the #NZPol right and neoliberal voters. There’s some wonderful people in Labour but the party seems incapable of breaking free from the neoliberal ideology that has encumbered the party for the last 40 years.

I can only find hope in the NZ Greens remaining resolute in addressing the wealth inequality, climate catastrophe and political corruption that is destroying #Aotearoa #NewZealand and hope enough voters support their political priorities to change the government and future of this country for the better. #PartyVoteGreen

Just took my dog for a very long walk as I figure the next couple of days will probably be too stormy for a decent walk.

The humidity in Tāmaki Makaurau is steamy as and the skies are darkening as #CycloneVaianu approaches although still not due to hit until early Sunday morning the atmosphere already feels ominous.

Probably a good time for a #NZPol government to take climate action seriously, unfortunately it looks like we’re going to have to wait until 7 November 2026 to get a government prepared to take any action.

Missed this interview with NZ Greens co-leader James Shaw on RNZ's First Up this morning.

Shaw said the Greens proposed tax cuts for 95 percent of people and the policy was fully paid for (through the imposition of a wealth tax). No one had questioned the fiscals of their policy, he said.

"It irritates me that most of the current spotlight is on Labour and National and the questions around their plans." #PartyVoteGreen #NZPol

I live in a small seaside village and there's something special about walking around the block to the local hall and casting a vote on election morning. I bet I'll be the only person wearing an N95 this time.

As another politics nerd, it's always satisfying to review the breakdown of votes cast in our local hall. As a village, we predominantly vote green and that's a damn good feeling.
