Party Representation advocates fighting to replace one flawed electoral system feature (plurality) with another flawed feature (party lists).

If plurality is found to be "unconstitutional" (it won't be, given British worldview origins of constitution), so will party lists.

New from me at TVO: a court case late last year decided that first-past-the-post doesn't breach the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, but reformers are appealing. https://t.co/SpXGHyTb3I

There has to be a better, shorter way to say “party list proportional representation” in five syllables or less. Ideas:
* ranked slate voting
* instant slate voting
* slate choice voting
* member slate voting

Problem is that I’m trying to find a shorter term which applies strictly to legislative elections. The use of the word “slate” can apply to any office, and I need to distinguish legislative elections from others. #ProportionalRepresentation #Elections #rankedchoicevoting #PartyListPR

@accretionist @zout @randahl a quibble: the Netherlands uses party-list proportional representation, which is a more “pure” form of proportional representation than #RCV in that you’re voting for party slates, not individuals. But your point about the left being divided is definitely correct, no matter the election system. It’s just worse by far in FPTP systems like the US, UK or Canada. I’d personally rather have #PartyListPR in part or in full tbh

Two candidates endorsing each other as second choices on a ranked ballot should never be controvercial.

There are many advantages to #RankedChoiceVoting over #FPTP or #PartyListPR , and being able to less divisive and be supportive of fellow candidates is part of that.

Vote splitting is a terrible concept to keep alive, and yet so many hyper-partisans prefer it (Expecially the #NDP in Canada)
