🧱🏛️ Manuel Bravo’s #video walks viewers through the #Acropolis using #3D models to overlay how #ruins look today against their 5th century BCE appearance.

The hill was designed as a deliberate, almost cinematic ascent from everyday life into the sacred. Bonus: the #Parthenon is scaffolding-free for the first time in 200 years, and a full-scale replica stands in #Nashville.

A Tour of Athens’ Acropolis, Explained with 3D Reconstructions

Since it was first built as a Mycenaean fortress in the thirteenth century BC, what we now know as the Acropolis has been used to worship not just Greek gods, but also, in later periods, the Virgin Mary and Allah.

I designed a replica of the #Finland 1952 #Olympic torch and #3D printed it.
It has same golden text than in the original one. Torch has USB-C connetor and LED light.
The hand grip is actual wood from the Olympic stadium.
The stand is #Parthenon from #Athena

Oh look, a text by the British Museum itself that claims it's completely okay they own another country's cultural heritage, well I'm sure the museum is entirely objective here!
They even have a carefully worded statement about Elgin acting "with the full knowledge and permission of the legal authorities of the day in both Athens and London".
The legal authorities of that day being the Ottomans, just because one colonizer sold cultural heritage to another colonizer doesn't mean we have to be okay with it.
The museum trustees have no shame and even argue that back in 1816 the colonizers themselves declared everything to be legal. How convincing.

a round of applause??
The British "cleaned" the Parthenon scupltures too invasively, thereby damaging them, and we're supposed to applaud them?!
