I am mulling over creating a website and a #GeminiCapsule for those interested in getting started in #PacketRadio . I was thinking that it might be cool to be able to post a listing to the #PacketBBS and allow users to request info via packet, but proxy through #Gemini
This should be possible, as my node can play #Zork
Finally gotten round to moving the x30 dual band (144/430mhz) and the adsb (1090mhz) antennas from inside the loft to outside
Been saying I’ll take down the pair of MikroTik SXT LTE units for ages as their no longer in use for a while
Should now have better coverage for my LoRa APRS igate (MB7UKT) and great coverage for my packet BBS 2m node (GB7PKT)
#hamradio #hamr #amateurradio #lora #loraaprs #aprs #packetnode #packetmailbox #packetbbs
i played with HF packet for a bit. the problem i had was that it was super hard to keep a connection long enough to do anything. it was good for keyboard to keyboard, but it was hard to connect to #PacketBBS etc.
@F4FXL @aprs I wrote an implementation of AX25 in the days of packetbbs were widely used - before websites. Now I find that #AX25 and #packetbbs aren't dead, just overshadowed. I've managed to get #direwolf running on HF via an IC-7300.
That was the easy bit. As is the way with all software, there's understanding the layers, so as well as exploring Direwolf, I need to find an #AX25 tools tutorial. Thanks for your tiny example - these really help.
Currently testing old TNT #packetradio terminal and DPBOX #packetbbs freshly build on Raspbian without ax25 stack
TNT run fine but DPBOX need some tweaks to run
Just for fun 🙂
