For some of us,
_every_ day is #PTSDAwarenessDay
In honor of #PTSDAwarenessDay, we partnered with @[email protected] to display flags representing those impacted by PTSD in our outfield and show those struggling that they are not alone.
In addition to this, for #PTSDAwarenessDay, I'd like to gently ask that people on the left stop ironically throwing "lol triggered" in the faces of their trolls. I get why you're doing it. You're trying to highlight their hypocrisy and absurdity. But it makes me cringe. You're reinforcing the all-too-popular idea that my actual PTSD symptom is a punchline, something to sneer at.
It's apparently #PTSDAwarenessDay today. I would like to see left activists be more aware of the fact that people can get PTSD in the course of their activist work (I did), and it's not all that uncommon. Exposure to police violence is an obvious way to end up with it (it's how I did), and there are others. If anything I think activists are vulnerable, because society doesn't do much to validate or help us process our activism-related traumatic experiences.
