Only the best for the geese, they got the fancy stitching for their pond curtains that keep them from clawing up the liner and enable them to actually get out of the pond. I folded the edge up on the geotextile and sewed pockets that I put rocks, I sieved out of the dirt I dug from the hole, in and staked them along most of the perimeter except where the spillway is. The bees that were in the old pools discovered this now too and seemed to like the wet black surface too.

I've decided to make this #allotment #pond, which we inherited, bigger, and deeper.
The new liner will arrive on Tuesday, so I'll be doing some of the digging out tomorrow.
I am hoping to leave the current excavation as is, and breaking through next week. After pumping out, the new liner will go in, and the pond refilled, and planted.

As an aside, making this pond has brought with it a realisation of something terrible:
The liner I bought is guaranteed for 25 years.
This is not a bad thing in itself, but it means that in all likelihood the pond liner will outlast the remainder of my life.
