Tijdens een wandeling in het PEFC-gecertificeerde bos van Mullerthal (Luxemburg) zag ik hoe houtbouw écht duurzaam kan zijn. Ik geef veel duurzaam bouwadvies, maar hier kreeg ik tijdens mijn vakantieadvies van het bos.
Dit bos is een schoolvoorbeeld van meervoudig ruimtegebruik: natuur, toerisme en houtproductie in één. Geen milieukost, maar milieuwinst. Een inspiratiebron voor iedereen die bouwt aan de toekomst.

Tino Eberl#Sachsenforst zieht sich weitgehend aus der #FSC-Zertifizierung zurück und belässt nur 1,5 % des Staatswaldes unter diesem Standard.
#BUND und #NABU kritisieren den Schritt als Rückschritt für #Klimaschutz und #Artenschutz.
FSC gilt international als glaubwürdiger Nachweis für nachhaltige #Waldwirtschaft, während das weniger strenge #PEFC-System bleibt.

Earthworm 🐌Bottom line: some Canadian provinces managed to cut down over half of their >100 year old forests. Over the last 20 years. 😳
The industry-controlled, widely used certificate for sustainable wood (globally PEFC, in North America SRI) has almost no value.
And the other important certificate, FSC, was also very much watered down by industry efforts.
This sucks, and is another example that voluntary certificates and other capitalism-friendly tools frequently don't work in the long run.
