At #PASCA [Plant And Soul California] we planted some peas last Oct. It takes longer in the winter but we do get blossoms and peas.

Pea progress at Plant and Soul California #PASCA ;

We are taking full advantage of the space for #aquaponics. The area taken up to fencing for the protection the pond has been turned into a veg-garden. A demo of a conventional container garden.
Our late season peas are doing great. From the 11th of Oct to the 24th we planted peas as the trellis fence beds were built and prepared.

TILT: Things I Learned Today; Yesterday Jarad tried something I had been too afraid to try; he moved the pump feed line. It looked like it was brittle from sun damage but it moved just fine. He redirect the water flow back into the pond so they could work on the grow beds and the fish would still get of O2. #aquaponics #lessons #pasca

Big day for aquaponics rebuild. Tim and his team finished cleaning and repositioning the grow beds for pre-phase 0 operations. None of the beds have been planted so there is nothing cleaning the water. We should probably not be feeding the fish until we get some plants back in. #aquaponics #pasca #democracyInAction #garden

The fish pond area lost its big grass shrub but gained a garden bed area under the aisle fence. These wells could become a "picking" garden. Things that can climb on the hog wire; peas, beans, indefinite tomatoes etc. The pond is about 2-3 inches above the surrounding area. The flagstone overhangs the edge to protect the pond liner from the sun.

Aquaculture

Fish farming can generate high interest and excitement. It has great potential to produce high quality protein in relatively short time periods and in small areas. Fish farming is one way that resource poor farmers throughout the world can provide protein that is often lacking in the family diet and too expensive to purchase.

That was my thought for the day. Now to do something positive to actually help.

I'm peddling by #ebike to help a bunch of folks construct a community #aquaponics system that will demonstrate how we can decentralize and de-carbonise our food supply system and provide more food security to folks where ever they live.

Plant And Soul California #PASCA
is a private community garden project. They had a social to introduce their garden ideas to the community.
The folks in this garden are working to introduce more native gardening ideas to the urban community.
You can grow food in an urban garden, as proof we made home-made pizza with topping from the garden and cooked it in the outdoor beehive oven.
