Circles to Circles #3. Using the Invisible Simple Box

When you do your geometry homework, everything fits nicely on a sheet of standard paper. Problems have been carefully designed to make this happen! I had never appreciated this - until I created my own geometry challenges. Either the different views were overlapping too much or interesting features were pushed beyond the edges of the paper. An animation of 24 hours (from midnight at UTC+00:00) on Earth today, in four different projections: Left to right, top to bottom: #Orthographic, #Stereographic, Interrupted Goode Homolosine and #Spilhaus.

Plotted with #cartopy 's Nightshade function (repeated calls to get the different twilight zones) and #matplotlib at 15 minute time steps and then stacked together in #gimp

Giving #NATO the #orthographic status of proper name at first had me questioning whether this was a #AmE/#BrE difference, but I'm thinking this was just an odd choice by the BBC in this case.
