Out and about this afternoon carrying out a belated eider survey. No eiders were spotted of course, but lots of gannets and curlew about.

Nice to be moving again, a gentle run to the Stone Circles on Machrie Moor and back.
#OutsideEveryDay and #OptimisticOctober ground to a halt after 2 days when my "cold" turned out to be #Covid. Sooooo last year... but there you go.
I could safely go for a walk without infecting people but I feel awful πͺ. Hot & cold, terrible headache, and with an unpleasantly runny nose.
My outdoor time was spent in the greenhouse which is lovely. Watching things grow π π₯.
Now I'm wrapped up warm and sipping hot Marmite. π
I suppose Covid is normal now but I still worry about family.
Just had my first swimming lesson in at least 35 years and KNOCKED A WHOLE MINUTE OFF MY 100M.
Absolutely flabbergasted!
I've had a lovely headache since lunchtime so just around the block again for me - but @johnl joined me this time too.
I found a regular size acorn to compare to the fat ones from yesterday - but in @johnl's spade-like hands, they both look small π

(With my headache, I wouldn't have gone out without the encouragement from these hashtags! Hurrah for a tiny bit of accountability!)
An attempt at some nice restorative yoga today to deal with stress (we had a late night emergency visit to the vets last night, all is well but we are all frazzled.). π§ββοΈ
The yoga was interrupted by an urgent outing to the doggy toilet, which even for number ones is a massive performance at the moment. π« π
It's not my fault the chip shop was opening just as I walked past on my way to the park.
Nobody said that #OutsideEveryDay had to be chip free. I do now have to walk round the park, across to the field, round the cemetery and then briskly back up the hill!
Between my walking boots still being wet and the forecast predicting more rain, I didn't fancy a long walk but I thought I could at least go "around the block": the basic route we used to do daily with our dog when we didn't have a more exciting walk planned.
It's 3km of farm tracks and country lanes. I saw the biggest acorns I've ever seen, cows munching vividly green grass and a bird of prey hovering over its lunch. A good use of 35mins.
Mondays are my day for feeding the chickens at the Arran Pioneer Project. Now Autumn is here they are not producing so many eggs, but this morning, they gave me two (and a row about their empty feeder). π₯π₯π
Had a very fun weekend camping in the #Conwy Valley in #Wales.
We got absolutely drenched on our walk yesterday (a loop from Llyn Eigliau) and all our kit was still too wet for our planned walk today. (An excuse to visit the area again soon!)
Instead, we pottered around Conwy, had fish'n'chips for lunch then went for a swim in the sea at Morfa, with a seal swimming about 10m away π
