TIL there's an area of Shrewsbury with the same name as our house - and the adjacent area has the same name as our next door neighbours' house. Fun coincidence!

Sunday, we went back to the beach at Niwbwrch/Newborough (we'd stayed nearby) for some high tide frolics - lots of excellent dogs! - then had a breathtaking drive through Snowdonia thanks to lingering mist & emerging sunshine. We walked at Capel Curig then stayed at one of our favourite campsites just south of Betws y Coed.

Today, we had breakfast and a walk at Llyn Brenig before heading home - would like to go back there again soon for bike/boat/sauna fun.

A gorgeous weekend for it!

Just back from a fab long weekend in North Wales.

Started with a wander around the Great Orme at Llandudno on Friday (tiny lambs! tiny kids! tiny balancing sheep!), then fish'n'chips (mandatory) and a night in the Conwy valley. On Saturday, we started with a walk at Rhaeadr Fawr/Aber Falls, followed by lunch in Beaumaris and a lovely evening walk at Niwbwrch/Newborough Forest & beach. It was super low tide so we got to go over to the island and watch the sunset 🤩

Just heard someone on a podcast* refer to their anus as their "south port".

I've never understood why my hometown has that name - since it is north of the most prominent port in the area - but now that makes perfect sense 🤣🤣🤣

FIELD TRIP: My Butt, a Colonoscopy Ride Along & How-To Encore — alie ward

Come check out my butt with me! 1 in 16 people in the U.S. will have colon cancer, and 0 in 16 want to talk about getting a camera up your guts to check things out. I am one of them, but after losing loved ones to colon cancer – and staring down the barrel of my first-ever colonoscope — I recorded t

Is cereal soup??
Sometimes, I decide to spoil myself and use a soup spoon for my breakfast cereal.

Just been to see #ProjectHailMary at the Imax in Bradford. The book is one of my favourite bubblegum books - not exactly great writing but a ton of fun - so I had high hopes for the film.

They, understandably, had to truncate/cut out a lot of the story but I very much enjoyed what was left. It was also visually beautiful, the soundtrack was great and it didn't take itself too seriously (which I like).

Recommend, recommend, recommend.

Had a lovely weekend away in our van on the North Yorkshire coast.

We pottered at Sandsend on Friday, then on Saturday, we walked along the cliffs from Runswick Bay to Staithes and back again, then into Whitby for the mandatory fish'n'chips. We didn't actually make it down to the bay at Runswick, though, so went back there on Sunday for some beach combing/fossil hunting, then, again, back to Whitby for donuts (also mandatory).

Rosey was delighted to finally return to the coast - as was I 😄

I'm still continuing my time-gone-awry book theme. I've just finished re-reads of Octavia Butler's Kindred (which is excellent) and Catriona Silvey's Meet Me In Another Life (which I enjoyed more than my first reading).

Now starting Emily St John Mandel's Sea of Tranquility as recommended by a few people on here. I've yet to be captured by her Station Eleven, but SoT grabbed me from the start. Fingers crossed it continues to hold me.

And this line... it's me 🤣

Ah boo, Google maps tells me it is genuinely called Bigfoot Hospital, but care home for humans, not gentle woodland giants. Disappointing.
