Today is my 5 year anniversary of having open heart surgery. I plan on celebrating by eating something greasy and artery clogging.
Today there are approximately 40,000 open heart surgeries in Canada but in 1956 the first in Canada was performed in Alberta by pioneering surgeon John Callaghan. Here is his fascinating life story and career achievements.

It's official Sports Fans, I am now a graduate of the Healthy Heart Rehab Program at St. Paul's Hospital cardiac unit.
It doesn't come with a ribbon or anything, but I did walk away with a pretty nifty zipper and a shitload of titanium wire.
