The #CommonsClause FAQ does offer a critique of AGPL, but it doesn't seem to me like they're really thought it through at a deep level. #OpenGift and #CoopExchange are other platforms trying to solve the funding issue. I've seen pitches from both at recent conferences. I'm skeptical, but intrigued

I agree that's not idea, but it doesn't necessarily stop them from exiting by selling to their workers / customers / users/ deployers, instead of exiting via acquisition or IPO. #EquityCrowdfunding and new platforms like #OpenGift and #CoopExchange make that more likely to succeed.

At #Open2018 I heard a pitch from one of the folks involved in #OpenGift. This is a cool idea! They connect orgs who need software with free code developers. Depending on their needs, the orgs can be supplied with existing software as-in, or modifed for their needs, or new free code software created from scratch for them if nothing existing fits their needs. OG tries to pool orgs with similar needs to reduce costs for each, while paying devs a living wage:
