In fact, I have come to see FOSS increasingly as a means to save the Western democracies.

#Algorithms and #Techno feudalists, such as #Musk, #Nero's, and #Zuckerberg threaten #Democracies as much as dictators and other #Autocrats.

Just imagine, one of the ancient #Athenian aristocrats would have had an #Oligopolistic grip on public opinion such as #X, being de facto able to #Ostracise any oponent...

Only if people of influence "all" move to non-algorithmic #FOSS...

As we have observed from the #oligopolistic #BigTech in the past two decades, these unbridled #capitalistic endeavors do not lend themselves to #selfregulation for the #publicgood. Likewise, it will be naive to carry-on hoping that #OpenAI and the other #generativeAI players will #selfregulate. That's the #duty of elected #governments and #public #agencies, and the promulgation of effective #AI #regulations is now #longOverdue!
