The pillared and domed entrance to the A-Listed former Waverley Cinema in the Shawlands area of Glasgow. Designed by Watson, Salmond and Gray in 1922, this was one of the city's first purpose-built cinemas.

It's great to see the old Vogue Cinema on Main Street in Rutherglen is looking a lot better today (picture on the right) than the last time I photographed it back in 2023 (on the left).

This Art Deco cinema was designed by James McKissack and opened in 1936 with a seating capacity of 1,750. It closed as a cinema in 1974.

An 1880s warehouse on Sauchiehall Street in Glasgow. Like a surprising number of warehouses on this street, it was converted into a cinema at the start of the 20th century. Designed by Duff and McKissack, it opened as La Scala in 1912 and seated 1,000 people. Its auditoriun was divided into two smaller screens in 1976, with a third added in the former cafe area in 1978 before finally closing in 1984.

Love this stained glass above the entrance of the Waterstones Bookshop on Sauchiehall Street in Glasgow. This building started its life as a warehouse before being converted into a cinema in 1912 by Duff and McKissack.

The nameplate of the Govanhill Picture House on the Southside of Glasgow. Opened in 1926, this 1,200 capacity cinema was designed in an Ancient Eyptian-inspired Art Deco style by Eric A. Sutherland.

This rather beautiful B-listed Art Deco cinema with Italianate flourishes in Hamilton to the southeast of Glasgow is set to be demolished as it's been classified as unsafe. Designed by James McKissack, it opened as La Scala in 1921 and closed as a cinema around 1960. It has been empty since 1997.
